I found Halfords to be offering the cheapest MOT in my area. Booking on-line was really easy and when I took it along it was dealt with really promptly and they phoned me as soon as it was done. I went to the Halfords on the Nuffield Trading Estate to have my elderly Nissan MOT'd. This was the second time I have been there, attracted by the price and the "Free Brakes For Life" scheme. Both this year and last the service has been exemplary. Last year was particularly so as there was a problem with a brake part but the team at Halfords Nuffield went several extra miles even to the point of organising a hire car, that I didn't need in the end. This year was much simpler, but the service was still amazing. I'll definitely be going back there next year.

Car failed MOT on breaks but Halfords could not give us any readings or any indication of what the issue was. Went somewhere else, paid again for an MOT and got the information.

My car was booked for MOT & Interim service on Tues 31 March 2015. When I left my car I was told that the work would be finished mid-afternoon. Got a phone call about 1pm to say MOT complete but unable to do service due to staff shortage. When I picked up my car I managed to book service for 9 April. Unfortunately this will mean I am without my car for 2 days instead of 1. Not a good experience, I could have been informed when I left my car off initially. Competitive market place, Halfords wakeup call.

Booked an MOT with local Halfords as they were advertising it for 30. No problems booking online & on arrival they were ready & waiting. I asked how long it would be likely to take and told approximately an hour. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call 35 mins later saying my car was ready for collection. Efficient, professional service, cant fault it, will be using Halfords again.

The MOT booking system worked well and my car was seen in a timely manner. However the documentation on the MOT was incorrect and the testing centre declined to change the official paperwork to correct the error. Retesting was delayed despite having made an appointment and this was inconvient with 3 children in tow.

It was really simple to book online, it was unexpected that it would take payment there and then, but this was fine as it broke the bill into 2 rather than one hit you usually get at the end of the service/ MOT. All work was carried out as expected, all fixes done and paperwork left for it all to add to my log. Really happy with the value and honesty, I will reuse them next year!

They had spaces available when I needed it, the staff were pleasant & helpful. I booked a full service & MOT and requested that they contact me before doing any extra work which they did. However, they gave me a quote for some work which I initially didn't question but asked them to hold off doing the work until I spoke to my boyfriend. It was a good job I did because he suggested I phone around other garages to get some quotes for the same work. In the end Halfords were 120 more than I could get the work done elsewhere. Halfords did price match but if I hadn't phoned around I would have just paid what they quoted. So I would suggest getting quotes for any work they suggest before going ahead with it.

This was the first time I took my car to a garage on my own. As a woman you hear stories about how some garages will rip you off if they feel they can get away with it. No such problems at the garage, staff were helpful and efficient.

Reception was ready for me, I left the car for an hour and it was ready on my return. It had failed on two points.. needed new front tyres and attention to an inoperative fog lamp. I had these remedied by 10 am the next day (today) but Halfords were unable to retest until tomorrow, so not done as yet. Now , Halfords state that they can retest your car for free within ten working days if they do it, but if you take it away to be done you have to return it for the retest before the end of the NEXT working day , or you have to pay for a retest....... Not fair !! I have been told that I will not be charged any extra as they were unable to fit me in today. But how long does it take to inspect two tyres and see if a fog light is operating properly ? Not terribly impressed.
