Jobs created as town garage opens - Blackpool -  December 2011

Six jobs have been created with the opening of a new Halfords Autocentre in Blackpool.
The new garage on Vicarage Lane, which opened its doors for the first time on Monday, is the latest to be opened by the national car repair, servicing and MOT network and is the first such site to open in Blackpool.

In addition to creating jobs in the town, there has been a six-figure investment in acquiring, equipping and staffing the Autocentre, and the company is set to spend a further £15,000 per month with local suppliers, further boosting the region’s economy.

Manager Roy Morris, who lives in Fleetwood, is excited about the challenge of starting a new business in the town. He said: “We have a terrific opportunity here to build a new type of garage from scratch, offering Blackpool motorists trustworthy and friendly alternative. The Halfords Autocentres network is founded on honest principals and seeks to lower the cost of motoring by providing main dealer quality at more affordable prices.

“My team and I are all local lads we are very proud to be serving our neighbours in the town. Our new garage is equipped with the very latest technology and tools, which means we can service all makes and models of car, old and new.

“We’re also committed to giving a friendly and efficient service with expertise and experience that customers can trust.”

With over 240 centres nationwide, Halfords Autocentres is the UK’s leading independent car servicing, repair, tyre and MOT network.

Blackpool is one of a dozen new sites to open with the distinctive orange branding this year, and the company plans to open a further fifteen in the first few months of 2012. The network will be 400 strong within five years.
